After five years of bringing together media professionals, scholars, and students, the 5th Hispanic Media Conference at UTA will continue to provide attendees with a program helping them Stay on Track. This day-long conference provides unique access to a learning environment where we acquire knowledge from experienced professionals and researchers navigating the turbulent waters of a deadline-driven world.

HMCUTA is organized by the Hispanic Media Initiative at The University of Texas at Arlington, a program in the Department of Communication focusing on the advancement of Hispanic media education, journalism, and research.

Conference Program

Albert Martínez is known as one of the most trusted names in weather coverage, particularly among the Hispanic audience. He is a 13-time Emmy® award recipient, 5-time Telly award recipient and one of the highest rated meteorologists in the industry. His experience includes extensive live and field reporting of climate change, science, and astronomy.

In his role as Senior Meteorologist, Martínez is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of weather content for The Weather Channel en Español, including integrating his previous experience in augmented and immersive mixed reality as a Max Reality Ambassador for The Weather Company (IBM). Prior to joining The Weather Channel en Español, Martínez anchored as Chief Meteorologist for Univision Network’s Despierta América, Edición Digital, Noticiero Univision, and PrendeTV.
